This service includes removal of the deceased from the mortuary/hospital, provision of a zinc lined coffin (for transportation only), liaison with all relevant authorities, and acquisition of all documents and certificates required to transport the deceased from the EU/World to/from Latvia.

The average cost is from 1400. EUR to 2700.00 EUR.It all depends on the time of year, traffic, fuel prices, tolls for roads, as well as distances and other factors.
The number of repatriations from abroad, mainly from England, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia – from countries with a high proportion of Latvian workers, will continue to increase.
Ikviens līķis tiek transportēts kopā ar speciālu dokumentu (līķa transportēšanas atļauju), kuru izsniedz nosūtītājas valsts attiecīgā valsts iestāde.
Transportēšanas atļauju izsniedz attiecīgā valsts iestāde atbilstoši šā Līgumam pēc tam, kad tā ir konstatējusi, ka:
a) visas medicīniskās, veselības, administratīvās un tiesiskās prasības, kuras ir spēkā nosūtītājas valsts likumos attiecībā uz līķu transportēšanu un, kur tas nepieciešams, uz apbedīšanu un ekshumāciju, ir izpildītas;
b) mirstīgās atliekas ir ievietotas zārkā, kas atbilst šā Līguma 6. un 7.panta prasībām;
c) zārkā atrodas tikai tās personas mirstīgās atliekas, kas minēta transportēšanas atļaujā, un tādas personīgās mantas, kas tiks apglabātas vai kremētas kopā ar līķi.
Ja transportēšana skar trešo valsti, kura ir 1937.gada 10.februāra Berlīnes nolīguma par līķu pārvadāšanu dalībvalsts, jebkura šī Līguma dalībvalsts var pieprasīt citai dalībvalstij veikt tādus pasākumus, kādi ir nepieciešami, lai kādreizējā dalībvalsts pildītu tās saistības, ko paredz Berlīnes nolīgums.
Starptautisko līgumu uzskaiti veic Ārlietu ministrija. Starptautisko līgumu pamatteksti netiek apvienoti ar tajos izdarītajiem grozījumiem.

Lai izvestu Latvijas valstspiederīgā mirstīgās atliekas no ASV, nepieciešami šādi dokumenti:
1. Medicīnas iestādes izsniegta izziņa par personas nāves cēloni, kuras īstumu apliecina ar Apostille tās pavalsts Office of the Secretary of State, kurā izziņa ir izsniegta;
2. Personas miršanas apliecība, kuras īstums jāapliecina ar Apostille tās pavalsts Office of the Secretary of State, kurā apliecība ir izsniegta;
3. Dokuments, kas apliecina mirstīgo atlieku iezārkošanas atbilstību uzturēšanās valsts sanitārās kontroles dienestu izvirzītajām prasībām (Embalming Certificate – to certify that the remains of the late have been properly embalmed and are in a sanitary condition), ja līķis tiek pārvests zārkā;
4. Cremation Certificate – ja pīšļi tiek pārvesti urnā, kura īstumu apliecina ar Apostille tās pavalsts Office of the Secretary of State, kurā dokuments ir izsniegts;
5. Dokuments, kas apliecina muitas formalitāšu nokārtošanu (declaration that the late is not known to be of an infectious nature or Certificate in Relation to removal of the body outside the state; declaration that the coffin/urn contains the remains/ ashes and only the remains/ ashes of the late), kura īstumu apliecina ar Apostille tās pavalsts Office of the Secretary of State, kurā dokuments ir izsniegts.

The IATA Guidelines on Handling of Human Remains can be found in the IATA Airport Handling Manual at page 149: AHM 333 Handling of Human Remains, or in the introduction of the IATA TACT (The Air Cargo Tariff). Compliance with these guidelines, which are enshrined into the rules of most countries, makes it very unlikely that body fluid leakage would occur.
